A senior official with the Aga Khan Foundation was shot and killed at his home in Badakhshan Province, northeastern Afghanistan, by unidentified gunmen, according to multiple sources familiar with the incident.
The victim, Fazl Ahmad Paeez, was a prominent member of the Ismaili community and head of the foundation’s operations in the region, sources told Amu TV. The attack occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, in his home in Badakhshan.
According to those familiar with the case, eight armed men, some carrying Kalashnikov rifles and American-made M4 carbines, entered his home and opened fire. Paeez was reportedly struck by 14 bullets, including to the head, face, and chest.

Family members confirmed his death, stating that he was 38 years old and the father of three children. He was originally from Tizab village in Zebak District, a predominantly Ismaili area of Badakhshan.
