Taliban publicly flog two in Panjshir for adultery

The Taliban publicly flogged two individuals in Panjshir province on Saturday, May 4, accusing them of adultery, according to a statement released by the Taliban’s supreme court on Sunday.

Each individual received 39 lashes in a public setting.

The identities of those punished have not been disclosed by the Taliban.

Additionally, on the same day, Taliban carried out public lashings of three individuals in Paktika and Jowzjan provinces.

Over the past two years, the Taliban have publicly flogged hundreds of people across various provinces for various offenses. A recent report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) states that such punishments are continuing.
