Afghanistan: Landslide in Paktia kills five family members

GARDEZ, Afghanistan — A landslide in the Wazi Zadran district of Paktia province claimed the lives of five family members, including children, late last night, according to Taliban’s natural disaster management officials.

Nesar Ahmad Najat, head of the Taliban’s disaster management office in Paktia, reported that the incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the Khosa Changi area.

The victims included a father, his three sons, and a daughter.

In related developments, Taliban officials in Paktia stated that the Gardez-Khost highway has been closed to all traffic since last night due to the landslide.
