EU and Central Asia envoys discuss Afghanistan in Bishkek meeting

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — Special representatives from Central Asian nations and the European Union convened in Kyrgyzstan to discuss the situation in Afghanistan and the upcoming Doha meeting.

The European Union Special Representative for Central Asia’s office stated on X that Thomas Nicholson, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan, and UNAMA Chief Roza Otunbayeva attended the meeting.

The discussion focused on collaborative efforts to contribute to long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.

“Insightful discussions were held with our partners on how we can jointly contribute to the long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan,” the office said.

This meeting precedes the UN-organized gathering in Doha, scheduled for Feb. 18 and 19.
