At least 17 killed in traffic accidents on Kabul-Jalalabad Highway

At least 17 people were killed in various traffic accidents on the Kabul-Jalalabad Highway, a major route connecting Kabul to eastern Nangarhar province, on Sunday, according to a Taliban spokesman.

Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Kabul, stated that 10 traffic accidents occurred on the highway in the Sarubi district of Kabul on Sunday, Jan. 28.

Zadran attributed the accidents to driver carelessness in different areas of the highway. The section of the highway in Sarubi district is a two-lane road through mountainous terrain, a factor that contributes to numerous traffic accidents annually.
