Turkish police detain 24 Afghan migrants, two charged with human trafficking

Turkish authorities detained 24 Afghan migrants near the Iranian border in Igdir, with two facing human trafficking charges, media reports say.

Turkish media reported the incident, highlighting Turkey’s efforts to combat illegal migration.

The city’s Police Chief said, “Our team detained individuals in a vehicle from the Iranian border attempting to enter Turkey. Two were arrested for allegedly smuggling migrants into the country.”

These arrests are part of ongoing actions by Turkish security forces against unauthorized migration.

The detained individuals, after legal processes, have been moved to the Foreigners’ Repatriation Center.
