The Swiss Embassy in Pakistan announced on Friday a donation of $4.25 million in aid to Afghanistan.
The aid aims to support Afghan families returning from Pakistan and those affected by the recent earthquakes in Herat province, according to a statement from the embassy.
The earthquakes on Oct. 7 in western Afghanistan’s Herat province resulted in over 2,000 deaths and displaced tens of thousands.
More than 452,000 undocumented Afghans have been deported from Pakistan since November, and the number continues to grow.
With winter approaching, concerns are mounting for the well-being of the returning refugees and the earthquake-displaced families in Herat.
