Futsal faceoff: Afghanistan holds Czech Republic to a 4-4 draw

In a thrilling match at the Continental Cup hosted by Thailand, Afghanistan’s national futsal team on Monday clashed with the Czech Republic team, resulting in a gripping 4-4 tie.

Afghanistan demonstrated their mettle against the Czech Republic’s renowned squad, currently ranked among the top 20 futsal teams globally. In contrast, Afghanistan holds the 63rd spot in the world rankings.

Representing Europe in these competitions, the Czech Republic’s futsal team presented a formidable challenge.

During a press briefing, Majid Mortezaei, the head coach of Afghanistan’s national futsal team, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, outlining their aspirations.

“Our objective is to ready the national team for the 2024 World Cup. We’re aiming for the semi-finals in this tournament,” he affirmed.

The match witnessed goals from Bahman Gergich, Sayed Hossein Mousavi, and Mehran Ghulami.

Afghanistan’s upcoming challenge lies against Mozambique, scheduled for Tuesday.
