The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the UN deputy chief, Rosemary DiCarlo, in a phone call with Amir Khan Muttaqi said she would raise recent Pakistani airstrikes with UN member states and “other parties.”

The ministry said DiCarlo expressed sympathy over the reported killing of civilians in Saturday night’s strikes. The ministry did not provide further details.

The two sides also discussed the Doha process, and exchanged unspecified “proposals,” the statement said, without elaborating.

The United Nations has not publicly commented on the call.

The call followed Pakistani airstrikes late Saturday night that hit two eastern provinces of Afghanistan, including Nangarhar and Paktika.

UN mission in Afghanistan said 13 civilians were killed in the airstrikes. Pakistan has claimed the strikes targeted TTP and Daesh hideouts, and that nearly 70 militants were killed.
