Unidentified drones seen over Panjshir, residents say

Residents of Panjshir said unidentified drones were flying over parts of the province on Tuesday night, particularly during late-night and pre-dawn hours, raising concern among local communities.

Several residents said the drones were observed over the districts of Rokha, Khonj, Anaba, Bazarak and Dara, sometimes flying at low altitude and producing a loud sound.

“They come at the beginning of the night and sometimes near dawn,” one resident said. “They circle and then leave. The sound is very loud. A few days ago they came again — there were several of them.”

Other residents said the flights appeared to have increased in recent days, adding to anxiety in the area.

Taliban spokesman for their governor in Panjshir denied in comments to Amu TV that any such drone activity had taken place.

Some residents in neighboring Parwan province also reported seeing unidentified drones in the sky Tuesday night.

It is not the first time residents of Panjshir have reported unexplained drone activity. The origin and purpose of the aircraft remain unclear, and Taliban authorities have not issued a formal statement addressing the claims.
