Pakistan, UK envoys stress security cooperation on Afghanistan

Pakistan and UK special envoys stressed the need for closer security cooperation on Afghanistan in a meeting in Islamabad, with discussions focusing on regional stability and cross-border militant threats.

Pakistan’s special envoy Mohammad Sadiq said he met Richard Lindsay, the United Kingdom’s special representative for Afghanistan, to review what he described as the urgent security challenges facing the region.

In a post on X, Sadiq said the talks focused in particular on cross-border terrorist attacks, as well as broader regional security developments.

“We emphasised the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to address shared concerns and promote regional stability,” he said.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused militant groups based in Afghanistan of carrying out attacks on its territory, a claim the Taliban deny. Islamabad has urged neighbouring countries and Western partners to increase coordination to counter militancy in the region.
