Afghanistan registered their second consecutive victory at the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday, thrashing West Indies by 138 runs in Namibia.
After winning the toss, Afghanistan U19 elected to bat and posted 262 for six in their allotted 50 overs, led by half-centuries from Osman Sadaat (88) and captain Mahboob Khan (86).
In reply, West Indies U19 were bowled out for 124 in 33.2 overs as Afghanistan’s bowlers dominated throughout the chase.
Nasratullah Nooristani led the attack with four wickets, while Khatir Stanikzai and Wahidullah Zadran took three wickets apiece to seal a comprehensive win.
Mahboob Khan was named player of the match after striking 86 off 69 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes.
The victory followed Afghanistan U19’s opening-match win over South Africa by 28 runs, leaving them unbeaten after two matches in the tournament.
Afghanistan U19 are scheduled to face Tanzania in their next group match on Wednesday.
