Employees at three ministries have confirmed to Amu TV that they have not received their salaries for the past two months, despite assurances from the Taliban-run finance ministry that all payments have been made.
Employees at the ministries of economy, refugees and repatriation, and the administrative affairs office said they were facing mounting financial pressure as delays continued through the winter.
“Unfortunately, it has been about two months since salaries were paid,” a public employee said, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal. “We have followed up with finance officials, but they say the delay is due to the end of the fiscal year and administrative problems. There is no clear timeline for payment.”
Some employees who said they had received salaries complained that payments were incomplete or lacked transparency.
“Some staff were paid through banks, but most employees did not receive their salaries,” another public employee said. “With winter here, the delay has created serious hardships.”
A Taliban official at the finance ministry said all salaries had been paid in full, rejecting claims of a suspension or delay. The official did not explain why employees in several ministries reported otherwise.
Salary delays have occurred repeatedly over the past year, according to public employees, amid economic strain and declining revenues. Taliban authorities have previously declined to provide detailed explanations for the disruptions.
