Abdul Basheer Qadiri, a young Afghan judoka, has advanced to the final round of the Asian Youth Judo Championships, securing at least a silver medal for his country.
Competing in the 66-kilogram weight category, Qadiri defeated opponents from Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates, and China to reach the final.
According to the National Olympic Committee, Qadiri is scheduled to compete for the gold medal on Thursday.
