Afghan Judokas and Jiu-Jitsu athletes compete in Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

A team of Afghan athletes has traveled to Bahrain to compete in judo and jiu-jitsu at the third edition of the Asian Youth Games, which have been underway in the capital, Manama, since last week.

Representing Afghanistan in judo are Abdul Basheer Qadiri in the under-66 kilogram weight category and Jawanzib Tareen in the under-55 kilogram class.

In jiu-jitsu, Abdul Raziq Kohi (56kg) and Hadi Rezai (62kg) will compete on behalf of the national team.

The Afghan delegation joins athletes from across the region in the multisport event, which showcases young talent in dozens of disciplines.

Afghanistan has already secured one silver and three bronze medals in earlier competitions, including in mixed martial arts (MMA) and kurash, a form of traditional Central Asian wrestling.
