Sources: Taliban remove women’s images from Kabul University textbooks

Taliban have ordered Kabul University’s English department to eliminate all images of women and the pronoun “she” from textbooks, local sources told Amu.

The directive came from a curriculum review committee operating under the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education, the sources said.

The Taliban have previously banned the sale of books they deemed “incompatible with Sharia.” More recently, they ordered the removal of all works authored by women from university curricula.

The latest directive also bans courses labeled contrary to Islamic law. At least 679 titles — including works on human rights, women’s studies and Western political thought — have been blacklisted, according to the sources.

Taliban have not publicly commented on the reported order.
