A new digital platform, OurFreeIran, launched this week to mark the third anniversary of the death of Jina Mahsa Amini and the beginning of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in Iran.
The initiative, available through a website, Instagram account and weekly newsletter, is designed to showcase poems, drawings, music, performances and other contributions from Iranians — many created under significant personal risk. Organizers say the goal is to give people in Iran a safe space to share their vision of freedom, beyond censorship and repression.
“This platform is about giving Iranians a safe space to share their vision of freedom. Their courage deserves to be heard. And we want to carry their voices beyond censorship and fear, placing them at the centre of international attention,” said Hannah Neumann, a member of the European Parliament, in a statement supporting the launch.
The platform began with 10 contributions from prominent Iranian voices and will open to all participants, with new submissions to be published weekly. Organizers stress that #OurFreeIran is independent and unaffiliated with the European Parliament or other institutions, ensuring what they call “agility, creativity, and freedom from political or bureaucratic influence.”
Organizers said the project seeks to keep international attention on the struggle for freedom and human rights in Iran, where women-led protests have faced harsh crackdowns since 2022.
