Taliban deputy chief minister Abdul Ghani Baradar met Tuesday with Mohammad Atabak, Iran’s minister of industry, commerce and mines, to discuss trade and investment, the Taliban said in a statement.
The Iranian delegation arrived in Kabul on Monday, Sept. 15.
According to a statement from Baradar’s office, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues, including bilateral trade, transit routes, investment opportunities, the Iranian-run Chabahar port and the work of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Economic Committee.
The Taliban did not provide further details on agreements or outcomes from the meeting.
Iran is one of Afghanistan’s key trading partners, with both countries sharing a long border and extensive cross-border commerce.
