Nine people were killed and seven others injured in a traffic accident in northern Baghlan Province on Wednesday, Taliban police command said.
The accident occurred in the Palfi Pass, a mountainous stretch of road linking Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital, to three districts of Baghlan.
The Taliban police command said a passenger bus veered off the road and plunged into a ravine.
Two women were among the dead, and four children were among those injured, according to the statement.
Traffic accidents have been rising across Afghanistan in recent months. In the past three days alone, 13 people have died in separate crashes in Badakhshan and Nangarhar Provinces. Poor road conditions and reckless driving are frequently cited as leading causes.
The Palfi Pass is considered one of the most dangerous routes in Baghlan, with deadly crashes reported there almost every year.
