Mis-e-Ainak wins fourth regional List A title with victory over Band-e-Amir

Mis-e-Ainak Region, led by captain Afsar Khan Zazai, claimed its fourth Regional List A title by defeating Band-e-Amir Region by five wickets in the final of the Regional List A Tournament 2025 on Saturday.

The monthlong tournament began Aug. 20 in Khost with five regional teams playing in a round-robin format. The final was held Sunday at Rahmat Wali Masroor Cricket Ground.

Band-e-Amir, captained by Hashmatullah Shahidi, won the toss and elected to bat. They posted 314 for 9, with key contributions from Noor Ul Rahman (57), Ijaz Ahmadzai (52), Shahidi (51), Mohammad Asif (42) and Farmanullah Safi (41 not out). Dawlat Zadran (2-40) and Mohammad Younus (2-56) took two wickets apiece for Mis-e-Ainak.

In reply, Mis-e-Ainak produced a strong batting display. Shahidullah Kamal anchored the chase with an unbeaten 77, supported by half-centuries from Naveed Obaid (64) and skipper Zazai (57). Cameos from Abdullah Tarakhil (36 not out), Hassan Eisakhil (27) and Rahmanullah Zadran (24) helped secure the win with five wickets in hand.

Kamal was named player of the match for his 77 off 73 balls. Mis-e-Ainak’s Mohammad Younus, who scored 175 runs and claimed six wickets during the tournament, was honored as the Emerging Player. Teammate Zahir Khan took 20 wickets at 15.25 to earn Best Bowler honors.

Bost Region’s Rahmat Shah, who scored 424 runs at an average of 70.66 with four half-centuries and a century, was named Best Batter. Band-e-Amir’s Farmanullah Safi, who scored 214 runs and took 11 wickets, was recognized as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The List A tournament was one of Afghanistan’s major domestic competitions in 2025, concluding a season that also featured two multi-day events, three 50-over tournaments, and two T20 competitions, including the 10th edition of the Shpageeza Cricket League.
