Afghanistan will face Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a T20 tri-nation series in November, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced.
The tournament, hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, will run from Nov. 17 to 29, with matches scheduled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The three teams will play each other twice in the group stage, with the top two advancing to the final on Nov. 29 in Lahore.
Afghanistan will open the series against hosts Pakistan on Nov. 17 in Rawalpindi, followed by a match against Sri Lanka on Nov. 19. The competition then moves to Lahore, where Afghanistan will meet Pakistan again on Nov. 23 and Sri Lanka on Nov. 25.
The series was initially planned as a three-match bilateral T20 contest between Afghanistan and Pakistan under the ICC Future Tours Program. Organizers said the format was expanded to include Sri Lanka in order to enhance competitiveness and provide better preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
“This is an encouraging development as Afghanistan continues to compete against top teams regularly,” ACB chief executive Naseeb Khan said in a statement. “These matches will serve as ideal preparations for the T20 World Cup. I am hopeful that our team will perform well and that fans will enjoy this series.”
The announcement comes as Afghanistan, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates are playing a separate T20 tri-series in Sharjah as part of Asia Cup preparations. Afghanistan is also set to host Bangladesh for three T20s and three one-day internationals in October.
