Separate traffic accidents in central Bamiyan province left one person dead and another injured, Taliban officials said Wednesday.
Taliban police command in Bamiyan said one crash occurred in the Dehn-e-Ahangaran area of Bamiyan city when a truck collided with a motorcycle. The second accident took place in the Shibar district, where a Toyota Saracha car crashed into another motorcycle in the Doabi and Shish Pul area.
Taliban said the truck driver involved in the first accident is in custody and his vehicle has been impounded by traffic police.
Taliban officials urged drivers to strictly follow traffic regulations and exercise caution on the roads.
Road accidents have been on the rise across Afghanistan in recent months, killing dozens. On Monday, a crash on the Balkh–Jawzjan highway killed eight people and injured five others.
