Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in a telephone conversation with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, emphasized the need to build mutual trust between the two sides.
According to the statement, both parties described the elevation of diplomatic relations through the appointment of ambassadors as a positive step in Pakistan-Taliban relations and pledged to further strengthen these ties.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement, saying the main focus of the phone call was the expansion of diplomatic relations between the two sides.
In the statement, Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed hope that the enhancement of diplomatic engagement would lead to further development in other areas of cooperation as well.
