Residents of Qoshtapa in Jawzjan protest against ‘forced displacement’ by Taliban

Residents of Qoshtapa district in the northern province of Jawzjan staged protests against the Taliban over “forced displacements” of members of the Uzbek and Turkmen ethnic communities, according to sources who spoke with Amu.

The demonstrators also protested the seizure of their lands and homes by the Taliban.

Sources further reported that the Taliban have been detaining individuals who resist the forced relocations.

On Monday, Taliban displaced 12 families from the Taymani tribe in Jira-Gak village, located in Ghor’s Dowlat Yar district, sources said.

According to sources, the homes of these displaced families were handed over to members of the Sardar tribe, who are said to have close ties to the Taliban’s provincial governor.

The protests reflect growing frustration among local communities over what they describe as targeted displacement efforts by the Taliban, aimed at altering the demographic makeup of certain areas.
