List reveals Kabul explosion casualties at one killed, 13 wounded

A list seen by Amu shows that Sunday afternoon’s explosion that targeted a minivan in the west of Kabul has left one person dead and 13 others injured.

Taliban, however, has reported that one person was killed and 11 others were injured in the incident.

The list received by Amu identifies the deceased as Sultan Ali, a 70-year-old resident of Dasht-e-Barchi, a predominantly Hazara neighborhood in Kabul.

Among the injured is a 13-year-old boy named Ali Akbar.

The injured include four women: Ruqia, 32; Zohal, 24; Khadija, 35; and Shah Gul, 32. The other eight injured individuals range in age from 28 to 60 years old.

The explosion occurred around 4 p.m. local time near a gas station in Dasht-e-Barchi, targeting a passenger vehicle filled with civilians. The Taliban have stated that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED).

The Emergency Hospital in Kabul reported that eight of the injured were brought to their facility, with one of them in critical condition.

West Kabul, home to many members of the Hazara and Shia communities, has frequently been the target of such attacks, which have disproportionately affected civilians.
