Flood warnings issued for Badakhshan, Nuristan provinces

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-run Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain and potential flash floods in the provinces of Badakhshan and Nuristan.

The department’s statement predicted heavy rain accompanied by flash floods for Thursday and Friday in these two provinces, with rainfall expected to measure between 15 and 25 millimeters.

The statement also warned of strong winds and dust storms in the western, southern, eastern, and central regions of the country.
