Wall collapse in Laghman kills three family members

KABUL, Afghanistan — Three members of a single family died, and four others were injured when a wall collapsed in Mehtarlam, the center of eastern Laghman province.

The wall, reportedly worn-out and severely damaged by recent rainfall, gave way, leading to the tragic incident, according to the Taliban-run Bakhtar news agency.

Heavy rains and flash floods have recently claimed the lives of hundreds across Afghanistan.

The floods, triggered by torrential downpours, have also destroyed hundreds of houses, displacing thousands and leaving many in a precarious situation.

Humanitarian organizations have expressed concern over the increasing frequency of such natural disasters, which exacerbate the already dire living conditions in the country.
