The announcement came after the U.N. Security Council approved a temporary exemption to its travel ban on Muttaqi.
The trip is scheduled for Oct. 6 and will include a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign.
The exemption, cleared on Sept. 30 by the Security Council’s sanctions committee on Afghanistan, permits Muttaqi to travel to India.
They stressed the need for the Taliban to demonstrate more willingness to engage constructively and in good faith with the.
The EU said his task will be to advance the bloc’s “principled engagement” on Afghanistan, in line with Council conclusions.
Their proposals included creating a political platform in the region to coordinate among different Afghan groups.
The move follows Berlin’s decision to accept two Taliban representatives as diplomats, one of whom is expected to be assigned.
The event brought together dozens of Afghan political figures, activists and women leaders to discuss the country’s future.
Organizers said the talks will focus on building trust, strengthening regional cooperation and mapping out a vision for Afghanistan’s political.
