Iran initiated drone attacks targeting Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The IDF announced on Saturday evening, as reported by the BBC, that the drone assault could take several hours to reach its targets.
The attacks are seen as retaliation following days of speculation that Iran was planning a response to an Israeli operation that resulted in the death of a high-ranking Iranian commander.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the nation’s defense mechanisms have been activated in anticipation of the attack, assuring that Israel’s military forces were prepared for any developments.
Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s stance on retaliation, stating, “I established a clear principle – if someone harms us, we will respond in kind. We are committed to defending ourselves against any threat with calmness and determination.”
