Former President Hamid Karzai emphasized the importance of reopening schools and universities for girls during a meeting with Takayoshi Kuromiya, the Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan, on Sunday.
In their discussion, Karzai and Kuromiya exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the broader region, Karzai noted in a post on X.
Karzai also highlighted the significance of national consensus for achieving lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
This appeal comes as the Taliban continues to bar girls above sixth grade from attending schools for the third straight academic year, also preventing female students from accessing university education.
