The Islamic State group, also known as Daesh, claimed responsibility Thursday for the two explosions that killed nearly 100 people and injured many others during a ceremony in Iran. The event was held to commemorate Commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike.
The claim was posted on the group’s affiliate Telegram channels, as reported by Reuters.
Daesh claimed to have killed at least 300 people in the attack.
The attack was condemned globally. A number of Afghan political leaders called it against all human and Islamic values.
