Afghanistan initiated their campaign to secure a place in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Thailand 2024 with a resounding victory of 18-2 over Macau in Group B during the Qualifiers held on Wednesday.
The Qualifiers for the Asian Futsal Cup are being hosted by Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan was drawn into Group B, alongside national futsal teams from Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Macau.
In their inaugural match, Afghanistan’s national futsal team displayed their skill by defeating Saudi Arabia with a final score of 3-2.
Their second match featured Afghanistan against Indonesia, where they went into halftime with a lead. Although the match ultimately concluded in a 7-7 draw, their previous performance had already secured a historic accomplishment.
As a result, Afghanistan’s futsal national team has earned the privilege of participating in the Asian Futsal Nations Cup, scheduled to take place in Thailand in 2024. This marks a monumental achievement in the annals of the country’s futsal history.
The technical leadership of the Afghanistan national futsal team is under the guidance of two Iranian coaches, Majid Mortezaei and Hamid Masoom.
