Bangladesh swept to a T20I series win against Afghanistan on Sunday in Sylhet, after beating the visitors by six wickets in the last of the two-match series.
This was the first T20I series win for Bangladesh against Afghanistan after previously having lost a T20I series in 2018 in Dehradun and having tied a two-match series at home last year.
Bangladesh has however also maintained their perfect 2023 in T20Is: they have won all three bilateral series they’ve played in the shortest format this year, having beaten England 3-0 and Ireland 2-1 in March.
This completes Afghanistan’s tour, which included a three-match ODI series, a one-off Test, and the two-match T20Is.
While Afghanistan went down to Bangladesh in the Test, the team were on top form for the ODIs and clinched a series win 2-1.
Sunday’s match however was curtailed by rain to just 17 overs and started out with Afghanistan setting a 116/7 target. Bangladesh chased the target down with five balls to spare.
