A young man was killed in an attack by armed men in Afghanistan’s southeastern Khost province, local sources said on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Faizullah, was killed on Friday in Gurbuz district, according to the sources.
They said he was a resident of Waro Kelay village in the district but did not provide further details about the circumstances of the attack.
Taliban have not publicly commented on the incident.
The killing comes amid reports of rising armed robberies and targeted attacks in several parts of Afghanistan, despite Taliban claims that security has improved since they returned to power in 2021.
Residents in Kabul and other provinces have increasingly expressed concern about violent crime, saying fears of armed robbery and attacks have limited their movements, particularly after dark.
Khost, Kabul, Balkh, Herat and Nangarhar are among the provinces that have witnessed reports of armed robberies and targeted killings in recent weeks, according to local sources.
