Reza Hosseinpour, a standout player for Afghanistan’s national futsal team, has signed with Shabab Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates, marking a new chapter in his professional career.
Hosseinpour announced the move on Thursday and said he hoped to represent Afghanistan with distinction at his new club. He joins the Emirati side for the second half of the season and is expected to make his debut later Thursday in a domestic cup match.
The national team forward has previously represented Afghanistan at the Futsal World Cup and in two editions of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup.
At this year’s Asian Cup, Hosseinpour scored four goals, playing a key role in helping Afghanistan advance from the group stage to the round of 16. His goal against Malaysia was voted the tournament’s best by fans.
The transfer underscores the growing presence of Afghanistan’s futsal players in regional leagues, as the national team continues to gain recognition on the international stage.
