A suspect of involvement in armed robbery was killed and another was wounded in a clash with Taliban forces in the southern province of Helmand, according to a statement by the Taliban governor’s office.
The incident occurred during an attempt to arrest the suspects in the District 3 of Lashkargah City, the center of Helmand, after they opened fire on Taliban forces, said the statement.
The statement said the two suspects were linked to a series of armed robberies in the province. No casualties among Taliban forces were reported.
Taliban said weapons were recovered at the scene and that investigations into the suspects’ activities were ongoing.
