Pakistan’s military said four militants were killed in a clash with security forces in the Panjgur district of Balochistan province during an intelligence-based operation.
In a statement, the army said the militants were linked to the Baloch Liberation Army, a separatist group active in the province. It did not disclose whether Pakistani forces suffered any casualties.
The military said the operation took place on Dec. 26 and resulted in the seizure of weapons, ammunition and explosives from the militants.
Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in militant attacks since the Taliban took power in neighbouring Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in the border provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban to prevent Pakistani militant groups, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), from using Afghanistan’s territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
Taliban have denied the allegations, saying insecurity in Pakistan is an internal matter.
