Bangladesh A defeats Afghanistan by 8 wickets in Asia Cup Rising Stars clash

Bangladesh A cruised to a commanding eight-wicket win over Afghanistan A in their second Group B match of the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 on Monday, chasing down a modest target of 79 with ease.

Afghanistan, opting to bat first, struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for just 78 in 18.4 overs. Despite a fighting 27 from captain Darwish Rasooli, the Afghan side faltered under sustained pressure from Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Rakibul Hasan led the charge with an impressive 3/7 from his four overs.

In response, Bangladesh A lost two early wickets, but the chase was never in doubt. The team reached the target in just 13.3 overs, finishing at 79/2 and sealing a comfortable victory.

Earlier in the match, Afghanistan made two changes to their playing XI from the previous game, bringing in Noor Rahman and Ijaz Ahmadzai. Their bowlers, particularly AM Ghazanfar, showed flashes of brilliance. Ghazanfar claimed two wickets and finished with excellent figures of 2/8 from his four overs. But the low target left little room for error.

The defeat is Afghanistan Abdalyan’s second of the tournament, putting them under pressure ahead of their final group stage clash against Hong Kong, China on Wednesday.

The Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 tournament, hosted in Qatar, features the emerging talent of top cricketing nations and serves as a platform for future international stars to showcase their abilities.
