Fiber-optic internet services in the northern province of Kunduz have been restored after being cut off for several hours, local sources told Amu on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the outage began Monday night after Taliban officials in the province ordered internet providers to suspend services “until further notice.” The disruption lasted until around midday Tuesday.

However, the sources said that “point-to-point” internet connections remained active throughout the outage.

Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

The restoration comes less than two weeks after the Taliban ordered a nationwide internet and telecommunications blackout lasting nearly 48 hours. The move, which Taliban never explained, drew widespread condemnation from human rights organizations, aid agencies, and exiled Afghan journalists, who said it cut millions of Afghans off from communication, banking, and essential services.

Since then, internet users in several provinces, including Kabul, Herat, and Balkh, have reported intermittent outages and reduced connection speeds.
