An earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday afternoon, injuring at least 15 people and damaging homes in Nangarhar province, local health officials said.
Rafiullah Hamad, head of health services in Dara-e-Noor district, said the injured were taken by ambulance to the provincial hospital in Jalalabad. He said updated figures on casualties and damage will be released later.
The quake also triggered a rockslide in Dara-e-Noor district, where boulders tumbled down mountain slopes. Local sources said several houses were damaged, but no fatalities had been reported.
Earlier reports said the tremor was felt in Kabul and across parts of Nangarhar and Kunar provinces. This comes after the August 31 earthquake in the eastern province of Kunar killed over 2,000 people.
