Sources: Limited point-to-point internet restored in Nangarhar

Limited point-to-point internet service has been restored in Nangarhar province, but access is restricted to banks and the customs office, local sources said Tuesday.

The service resumed Monday, Sept. 22, but is operating at low speed and not at previous levels, the sources said.

A similar partial restoration took place in Kandahar this week, where point-to-point internet was also reactivated only for banks and government departments.

The Taliban cut fiber-optic internet in 16 provinces last week. Local officials have said the restrictions are intended to prevent “immorality,” a move that has drawn strong criticism from residents and disrupted government operations.
