A young man in Khost province has died by suicide, marking the seventh such death in the province in less than two weeks, local sources said Tuesday.
The incident happened Monday evening in Khadir Piran village, where the man hanged himself, according to residents. He graduated last year from Sheikh Zayed University. The reason for his death remains unclear.
Relatives said he had been struggling with an uncertain future, unemployment and economic hardship since finishing university.
The funeral was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Khost, the sources said.
This is the second suicide in Khost in two days. On Sunday, another young man fatally shot himself in Ali Sher district.
According to local sources, of the seven suicides reported in the province over the past two weeks, five were teenagers, one was a young man and one was a teenage girl.
Taliban have not commented on the most recent death. Local journalists say the Taliban have imposed strict bans on reporting suicides, citing concerns that unemployment, economic pressures and lack of prospects are driving more people to take their own lives.
