BANGKOK — Afghanistan’s national beach soccer team suffered a 7-3 defeat against Bahrain on Sunday in a friendly match ahead of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup.
The match, played in Thailand, was the team’s final warm-up game before entering the continental tournament. Omid Haidari, Akbar Bahadari, and Abdul Samir Nazir scored for Afghanistan.
The AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup is set to begin on Thursday in Thailand. Afghanistan’s team has been holding a 10-day training camp, playing several friendly matches to prepare for the competition.
On Saturday, Afghanistan faced Japan in another warm-up match but lost 6-2, with Omid Haidari and Fahim Haidari scoring for the team.
Earlier in the camp, Afghanistan secured a 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia in its first friendly match.
