KABUL, Afghanistan—Three journalists were wounded on Wednesday during an exchange of fire between Taliban and Pakistani forces at the Torkham border crossing, according to local sources.
The journalists were covering the ongoing clashes near the crossing when they were injured by mortar fire allegedly launched by Pakistani forces, sources familiar with the matter told Amu News.
The wounded journalists were identified as Azizul Hassan Naamani, a reporter for Radio Hurriyat; Wali Mohammad Shinwari, a journalist with Pajhwok News Agency; and Hedayatullah, a reporter for Shamshad TV.
Clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani forces have been ongoing intermittently for three days near the border crossing. The fighting resumed on Wednesday afternoon, March 5.
Details about the condition of the wounded journalists and the severity of their injuries have not yet been released.
Officials from both the Taliban and the Pakistani government have not issued any statements regarding the incident.
