Two traffic accidents in Afghanistan’s central Ghazni Province left one person dead and six others injured, according to reports from the Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency.

The incidents occurred in the Gailan and Nawar districts, officials said, as Afghanistan grapples with a rise in traffic accidents amid snowy and rainy weather conditions. Poor road maintenance has further exacerbated the dangers for drivers and passengers.

While the Taliban’s traffic department has attributed the accidents primarily to driver negligence, residents have repeatedly voiced concerns about the lack of safe and properly maintained roads across the country.
