The 12th edition of the Herat Security Dialogue, a flagship event organized by the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS), is scheduled to take place on February 24-25, 2025, in Madrid, Spain.
This year’s dialogue, themed “Afghanistan: Reviving Hope; Synergetic Efforts,” will bring together policymakers, analysts, academics, civil society representatives, women’s rights advocates, and human rights defenders to discuss Afghanistan’s security landscape and broader regional and global challenges.
The two-day event will feature panels, interactive dialogues, and a keynote address, alongside a cultural evening at the historic Ateneo de Madrid. The Herat Security Dialogue, which began in 2012, has become a key platform for fostering discussions on Afghanistan. Past editions were held in Herat and Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Experts from international and regional organizations with a presence in Afghanistan will join participants from Afghanistan, neighboring regions, and Western nations, the organization said.
