A young girl was raped and murdered by a man in the western province of Herat, according to Taliban interior ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qanay.
Qanay said on Thursday that a man has been arrested on charges of abducting, raping and murdering a young girl in Herat.
He said that the incident occurred in the Injeel district of Herat Province, but did not specify the date of the crime.
He described the case as involving “brutal and horrific” violence against the teenage victim.
According to the Taliban, the suspect confessed to the crime during preliminary investigations. However, additional details on the circumstances surrounding the arrest have not yet been released.
