Taliban arrest seven in Panjshir amid crackdown, sources say

Taliban have arrested seven people in the Dara-e Abdullah Khail area of Panjshir as part of a crackdown that began late Friday, local sources told Amu.

Taliban have reportedly blocked all access to the area, although the reasons behind the arrests and the broader operation remain unclear.

The arrests follow an explosion in Panjshir’s Dara district, which the Taliban said left six of their fighters wounded. They attributed the blast to a gas balloon explosion. However, the National Resistance Front (NRF) disputed this, claiming responsibility for an attack on a Taliban military unit. In a statement, the NRF asserted that they had killed 13 Taliban members and injured two others during the assault.

Panjshir, a historically anti-Taliban region, continues to experience tension as the Taliban face sporadic resistance, while the region’s isolation and frequent clashes highlight the ongoing instability in parts of Afghanistan.
