Key Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossing reopens after tribal clashes

Pakistani media have reported that the Kharlachi border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan has reopened following tribal clashes that forced its closure for nine days.

The border, located in Kurram district, was shut due to violence near the crossing, causing significant hardship for local residents, according to Pakistani officials.

Essential supplies such as food, medicine, and fuel spoiled during the closure, adding to the difficulties faced by those in the area.

Faisal Karim Kundi, the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, stated that clashes in the Parachinar region have resulted in at least 60 deaths and left dozens injured, as violence once again erupted in the area.

The conflict involved two rival tribes, fighting over a disputed piece of land. Pakistani police reported that violence had broken out in various locations, leading to the closure of the Peshawar-Parachinar road.

The reopening of the Kharlachi crossing marks a crucial step toward restoring normalcy, though tensions in the region remain high.
