Afghan, Iranian climbers scale Shah Foladi Peak

KABUL, Afghanistan — A team of 11 climbers from Afghanistan and Iran successfully ascended Shah Foladi, a peak in the Kuhi Baba mountain range.

The National Olympic Committee said on X that the climbers included seven athletes from Herat, three from Bamiyan and one from Bamiyan.

Shah Foladi stands at 5,140 meters (16,860 feet) high. The Taliban-run Olympic committee noted that this achievement marked the first recorded ascent of the peak by climbers from Herat.
